UCF Biophysics Group
Born October 18, 2002

The first meeting of UCF Biophysics Group took place on October 18, 2002, in the Biomolecular Science Center conference room. The following people were present:

Dr. Florencio Hernandez (professor, Chemistry/CREOL))
Dr. Annette Khaled (professor, Biomolecular Science Center)
Kathleen Nemec (PhD student, Tatulian lab, Biomolecular Science Center)
Dr. Alex Pastukhov (postdoctoral fellow, Tatulian lab, Biomolecular Science Center)
Dr. Alfons Schulte (professor, Physics)
Dr. Shan Qin (postdoctoral fellow, Tatulian lab, Biomolecular Science Center)
Dr. Tom Selby (professor, Chemistry)
Dr. Suren Tatulian (professor, Biomolecular Science Center)
Dr. Deron Walters (professor, Physics)

It was agreed that the name of our association will be UCF Biophysics Group. The presence of Dr. Soileau implied the appreciation of our existence by the administration of UCF. Suren Tatulian was elected the coordinator. The term of the coordinator is either 1 or 2 years. This will be decided in the process.

The mission of UCF Biophysics Group was defined as follows:

  • Organize a series of Biophysical Seminars.
  • Promote collaborative research, leading to strong interdisciplinary Program Projects.
  • Develop a new biophysical graduate course.
